Default --->How to Spot A Scam<---

Can You Spot A Fake?

I think you are asking the right question to start with so you have that as your advantage. It is not always easy to spot a fake but I found that the DSA has a great page of information at http://www.dsa.org/aboutselling/cons...action=pyramid. It is not a terrible reality that companies must charge a fee for some sort of Starter Kit to cover their cost. The problem occurs when:
  • A "company" is making larger-than-life claims about the financial returns their Business Kit brings while selling it at an inflated cost so they can rake in big profits from kits rather than legitimate product sales; or
  • A work-at-home prospect has a lower expectation for themselves and the effort required for success than they have for the business opportunity and kit itself.
Direct Selling, Party Plan Selling, or any type of selling based out of home requires as much effort as any other type of selling. Yes, a recognized product can have marketing support and appeal. Yes, you have a captive audience at a home show as opposed to a store shelf. However, regardless of what you call it or how it is presented or supported--selling is selling! It requires learned skills and a sizable effort on your part. None of the products or companies on this or any other board "sell themselves" despite how much people like to use that phrase. It that were true...companies wouldn't need us now would they?

I love what I most often read on these boards...Find a product you could see yourself telling everybody about and then go from there. With a little precaution and the knowledge you can get from the DSA link--you are bound to end up doing something you love for a long time.
