Just wanted to share a quick story. I am an independent associate for Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. I am also a member. I’ve often used stories of other people when presenting the membership, now I have my own!
I had an issue with my tax preparer. I paid them $300 total to do both my and my husband's taxes. When we received our refunds, the tax preparer took out an add'l $225 from each of our checks. I called and spoke with the office manager, no help. I spoke with the tax preparer himself and he kept stating that he told me about the fee when he did not. I asked for a refund of $450.00 and he refused. He offered to prepare my taxes free of charge next year. However, I explained that I would not get my taxes done there again, even if it were free. He and I went back and forth about this for approx. 20 mins. Long story short, they stuck to their guns and refused to refund my money on the grounds that they told me about the fee. After hanging up with the office, I immediately called my atty’s office and informed them about what happened. I faxed over copies of the check and a they sent a letter to the tax office stating the same thing that I told them when I called. 10 days later, I received an apology and a refund!
