Instead of shelling out precious dollars to buy large blocks, you can make your own.
1: Paperbags and newspaper--stuff paperbags with newspaper and tape the ends shut
2: Tupperware containers--old tupperware containers with lids can be great for stacking. And, larger ones can be used to hold the smaller ones.
3: Sponges: Various size sponges can be bought at dollar stores from small kitchen sponges to large car washing sponges.
5. Plastic bottles: Empty (and rinsed out) plastic bottles work great for towers or turrets of castles.
This is a great activity because making the blocks is an activity itself, and then the blocks can be used again and again for hours of fun.
