I believe it depends on the day and time. Many different things can make me happy.
Example, it's morning now. I'm drinking a chai latte and reading the board. I'm happy. This is very peaceful for me.
Last weekend I had about 13 others over for a meal. That was not relaxing, not "peaceful" yet I was really happy. It was a wonderful weekend.
Earlier this week, something happened in my life that really had me upset. I spent two days very upset, frustrated, etc. When I reached resolution I was really happy that I'd been able to work through the situation. The pride in getting to that resolution brought me incredible happiness.
So, again, I'd have to say it all depends on the day and time.

My children... when they are sleeping ;)
Writing fiction and... yeah, of course my kids. My son said to me today "I'm glad you are always there when I need you" with a big hug. That makes me happy.

My family, my life.........
Just over 10 years ago I fled for my life (from my now ex) and lived in a shelter for battered women for about 5 1/2 weeks. I had to start over from scratch with nothing but a few personal belongings. I never went back for my stuff like my diploma, artwork, birth certificate, etc. I was terrified of him and pretend in my mind I lost everything in a fire. But it was a "rebirth" for me. I had to learn how to live again and become a whole person, on my own.
Since then I've re married (6 years on Sept 30th, been together 8 1/2 yrs) to a wonderful man (a good man) and have two beautiful boys with him. We have our own home with a big yard. I have the rose garden I've always wanted, a successful home business so I can stay with my boys, and a beautiful family. Most important, I have my life back and then some.
I'm also a proud sponsor for www.HEALEverywhere.org (http://www.HEALEverywhere.org). This non-profit organization helps post-domestic violence victims who are now safe and ready to move on. Proceeds from the medical/dental plans I offer goes back to HEALEverywhere so we can help other women get back on their feet again.

Wow, what an incredible story. Over time, have you reordered those items you left behind? The birth certificate etc?
Rose gardens sure can put a smile on one's face, huh?

Hi Kathleen- What a wonderful story!! I'm so glad that you've found your way & are so much happier in life & are living a life you deserve to live.I hope & pray that there are as many other women out there who can find the courage to leave the bad situations that they are in as well & start their lives over again. You are a wonderful example to many!! God Bless you always-

My daughter is learning to walk and when she decides she wants to walk to me instead of her cousins or aunts, that makes me happy.
And today my 2 year old had a chance to go on a ride with his best friend Maxx, but since Mommy wasn't going, he didn't want to go either. That makes me happy that he wants me (a little sad that he didn't get a chance to play with Maxx).
When my husband comes home and sees me, then smiles. That makes me happy.
As far as business, when someone likes my ideas, or when I know that what I"m doing has a potential to help my family out without tearing me away from them, that makes me very happy!

Thank you! I have kept a journal of the last 10 years or so, bought one when I was in the shelter. Lots of painful memories in it, so I don't read it very often. But it definately helps if I ever feel down, to remember how far I've come.
I've been blessed to be in a position now to help other women and spread the word that there are people out there that do understand and care. It is so important. You never know how one kind act can change a person's life.
Enjoy your children when they are young, because they do grow up soooooo fast. I love it when my 20 month old just wants me, so it's so sweet to hear it from other moms. My now 5 1/2 year old still wants to snuggle and give me hugs and kisses.......it seems like yesteray when he was just a little peanut snuggled up on my lap.
