After our wedding next May, my fiancee and I want to start conceiving our first child. I know it's kind of soon after getting married, but we've been together for eight years now and we really are excited to start having children, especially since I'll be 25 next year and he'll be 28. When should we go in and talk with my doctor about all of this, so I can start taking the right vitamins and start a plan. Any other advice would be helpful as well. I know some people just start trying to have children. But I have a low immune system and get sick easily. So, that's why I want to take extra precautions for when we start trying to have our first child and get advice from our doctor or anyone for what would help! : )

Thank you!

When's your next appointment? I would say 3-6 months in advance make an appointment and find out what is suggested.

My next appointment isn't until November of this year. That would put me at about 6 months! I would like to chat with my doctor because it did take my mom 6 six years to have me and she eventually had to be put on fertility drugs. But if there is something wrong with me I would like to know before we start trying, so we can try to fix it!! Plus, I'm on the pill and would like to know when I can stop taking it and start trying to conceive!!

Thanks!

I'm big on following the advice of the doctor you've chosen. Make an appointment for a consultation. Get the answers to your questions from YOUR doctor.

Yes, definitely go to the dr. Try not to get discouraged if you don't get pg right away.

There's an article in the articles section about things to do before you get pregnant that you should definitely read -- I highly recommend the tip about getting life insurance.

Congrats on your engagement!

It took hubby and I a little over 2 years to concieve.Take the advice on going to see your docs tho! Also start treating your body as if you were pregnant, such as drinking plenty of water, take vitamins etc.Good luck!
