I want to rant. Today one of my girls was screaming at me in the car and told me to let her the *&^%$ out of the car so I pulled over and let her get out (little road in small town). She started walking; I stayed put for about 5 minutes to let her cool off and then drove past her, pulled over and waited for her to catch up to ask if she wanted to get back in the car. Right when she was getting back in the car the COPS showed up; apparently the lady of the house in front of where I let the girl out called the cops! We had to explain what had happened and they even took our names and address and phone number! I could understand it if there was screaming involved, or hitting, or I had squealed out of there, but MY GOSH, what a ridiculous reaction to some teenage girl getting out of the car and starting to walk!!! What do you think?

Well, it depends... I think that lady overreacted, if you were in sight the whole time. Now, if you drove off where the lady couldn't see you anymore, then maybe she called the police because she was worried about you're daughter walking down that road alone.

This is such a crazy world we live in. If the lady did not see you let her out of the car in the first place, she may have been worried about an abduction. It is a crazy world we live in and even in small towns it is not safe anymore.

I agree the lady over reacted. But you could look at it two different ways-Be thankful this stranger was looking out for your daughters interest or blast her for being a busy body. But in this day and age, it is a shame what goes on in this world. Parents abandon their kids all the time. Children are abducted from their own homes. Children run around away, hitch hike and something horrible happens, get into trouble etc. Maybe she saw this young girl get out of the car and start walking away and than saw this car still following this child. To her it was strange, so she figured better safe than sorry. I personally would have asked the child if she needed help.
