I know they're out there....I just don't know where to start. Are any of you doing this?

Thanks!

It's easy to find reputable online tutoring companies. Just find out if they are going to take the time to care by calling and consulting with you, the parent. If not, don't waste your time.

Here's a few questions you can ask them:

1) Does my child receive a free assessment?
2) Do I receive a free consultation and ongoing consultations from the tutor regarding my child's progress?
3) Does my child work with the same tutor for every session?

These questions should help point you in the right directions when selecting your tutoring company.

Are you looking to become an online tutor? There are several options for you and it's not hard to find a reputable company to work with. You can try a Google search and can easily find quite a few well-established companies that may interest you.

Hope this helps!

Hello from Raleigh!
Finding an online tutor is very easy nowadays. The problem though is that it is impossible to find an online tutor that is domestic (all of them, or most I should say, are out of the country). This may work for some, but since each county and state have different academic standards, online tutoring isn't always the best choice unless it is someone local.

My husband and I founded WakeTutors.com (http://www.waketutors.com) to help parents find a tutor in the Raleigh area.

We spent a small fortune on online technology for our website but realized that face to face tutoring is most effective. If the demand is there for online tutoring, we will offer it but right now, we want to concentrate on quality in-home tutoring and tutors.

We also have excellent parent and teacher resources at WakeTutors.com (http://www.waketutors.com) so feel free to browse around. Let me know if you have questions. Hope that helps!
