We have just started our blog. It has a bit of everything.
It is 5 blogs in 1.
Blog 1 shows the latest post in any of the blogs.
Blog 2 is US - Just life
Blog 3 is WAHB (work at home business). We have general marketing, & each of our business' has a section.
Blog 4 is links
Blog 5 is Health

My 13 y/o daughter has her blog started over.
Her main topics right now is American Idol.
She even has her own domain & is building up her rank.
Stop by & see her, just think where it will be when she is your age. I wish I had started that long ago. LOL

I am always looking for blogs to comment on BUT you must own it!
I do not want to have to join blogspot, wordpress, or a community to comment. I know that sounds picky but, I do not want to join a group that I do not have time to keep up on.

Oh Audrey,
I read yours!! I just do not want to have to join so that I can post comments. Then I would have to blog there also. AAAAAAAHHH that would be way to much to keep up on. Heck, I can barely think of post for 1 blog! LOL!

that is actually a very interesting point about having to join to reply on all those blog sites! I just started messing around with one on blogspot... i have used a ready made "forum" before so maybe I'll start looking for ready made blogs to edit, i am planning on getting some webspace soon and I'll pay a little bit for a real domain name. Good thoughts!

Actually, anyone have any tips if you want to make your own blog, not use a blog community? I'll google it, of course, but just curious if anyone want to provide some insight!

I think most people would be better off having 1 great blog that THEY are the registered domain name owner, & have their own hosting.
Why build blogs at "group" sites? You are not building your rank. If you ever decide to move, most of those places will not give you your back up. I would only use a "group" blog as a secondary. That means giving a link to the complete story at your main blog.

You can get low cost web hosting that does not mean you have to be a member of a group. Requiring membership is a ploy to use you. If you choose to leave for any reason - you are out in the cold without your site! A HOSTAGE situation. If you have paid for your hosting then you have a chance.

Also any web hosting that requires you to register a domain through them can put you in another HOSTAGE situation. It is far to easy (and just as cheap) to register a domain name - in your name. Then you are the owner. Places that require you to register in their name are just making money off of you & control you!

I tell people to avoid buy a domain name unless it is registered in your own name. GoDaddy has been one that has screwed so many people out of their domain. If they decide that they want your name then there is not much you can do.

I use Namecheap.com
If I want to change hosting then I can go into my account & redirect. If a host owns your domain then you have to ask them to change it - HA!! Like they will want to do that if you are leaving them or if they have crappy customer service it may never get done.

My host (link is at the bottom of my blog) will NOT register a domain name for you - he insist that you have control. He knows how important that is.

Just my thoughts - I know I will not be popular with some "groups". Oh well, it's not the 1st time. LOL!

For many, myself included, it's a matter of just not knowing how. I continue to learn new things and more things each and every year however how to have a blog on a domain of my own, I just don't know how to do yet.
