Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
Sauce:
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
3 - 3 1/2 cups milk
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Before preparing the sauce, boil a pan of water for your macaroni (large shell, small shell or elbow macaroni will work).
Prepare sauce by melting the butter in saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, turn down heat and add flour. The flour and butter mixture will make a paste. Add the milk and continue to cook over medium heat until thickened. Add salt & pepper to taste.
Drain the macaroni. Place part of the macaroni in greased casserole dish. Add small amount of sauce and place slices of Velveeta or American cheese on top of sauce and macaroni. Add the rest of macaroni and sauce and place more slices of cheese on top. Place in 350 degree oven and heat through for about 30 minutes or until cheese is light brown and casserole is bubbling.
