Spice Cookies
1 1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon salt
additional sugar
Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add eggs and molasses, mixing well. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, soda, salt and spices; sift together. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well. Refrigerate overnight. Shape into 1/2 inch balls, roll in additional sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 6 minutes, or until edges begin to brown.
