Re: I think I'm done.
Robyn,
I just wanted to add a couple thoughts to all the great ideas here. You want to get these cans into the hands of your market. The blog will help and doing shows/expos in your area should help too.
The contest is a great idea, as is the blog - it's important to get a site up and working too because this is something people need to see to understand and appreciate what it is that you do.
Have you thought about doing local fundraisers with daycares, preschools, even girl scout troops are sometimes permitted to do one other fundraiser in addition to their cookie one each year.
I always tell my team that if they are serious about their commitment to a business they MUST be willing to give it at least 3 - 5 years before expecting to make a serious income. The first couple years are spent figuring out what is the most effective way to market your product/opportunity and then of course you must re-invest in your business when you do make a profit - but around year three - if you really worked through those first couple years, you are usually pretty organized, can keep fairly normal work hours and you start making a nice income while still being able to re-invest and continue to grow and build. Two months - even a year just isn't fair to you or the business.
I do think you need to pick a certain time each day that you work your business - even if you can only work it on the weekends - it's better to have set hours of some sort so you know what you are doing. When we just "wing" it - our business tends to take the backseat. When you work from home - it's easy to put everyone and everything else first and that puts you and your business last - when in reality - that business is going to help the family long term. It's the old short term sacrifice for long term gain.
Good luck to you and your business - it's a really cute idea and I hope you are able to continue pursuing it.
My Best,
