Reverse prospecting

The other day I placed an ad, someone emails me asking for more information. I write them back, they write me back advertising their business.
She wasn't interested in what I was offering which is fine, but I sure wouldn't join her, because I just felt tricked, I don't want to do business with someone like that. Plus she waisted my time. Something about that just seems lazy anyway. The funny thing is it is actually something that I may be joining just not under her.

It's sad that this is what are taught. Someone taught her to do this.

You might want to email her AFTER you sign up and help her out, by explaining had she said hello, been honest you just might have joined her. Instead, because she was dishonest and decietful you joined someone else.

That happened to me, too. I got an email from a lady asking for more info on our products. I replied with the info and she responded trying to get me to purchase advertising from her! So, I know how you feel, Tiagal.

I very often will engage in conversation with folks who do this as I know it doesn't work. I also know that I can help someone learn about marketing, so why not try to engage in conversation?

Hi all! It is amazing that people have to stoop to lying about things to get prospects. How are we supposed to trust or respect them after that?
I agree, no matter what the company is or how good it is, if you got their by a bad rep, it just doesn't seem to appealing after that. Every company has a few that use this technique. It still doesn't make it right.

My son recently started selling a certain company's line. He loves sales and is actually pretty good at it. Years ago I had a friend selling the same line of product. Back then the trick was invite people over to your house for a "party", then they'd spring the biz op ton you. I HATED that! At first he didn't see a problem with it until I shared with him,

Imagine Brad (fake name for his best friend), invites you over for a BBQ and you go thinking you're going to have a BBQ, then this sales rep jumps out, whips out his white board and launches into the business opportunity. How would you feel?
It's like the lights came on.....with a quiet "oh". It was worth a good laugh tho at that terrible memory. Thank goodness I think most companies have now dropped that tactic.

I'm guessing you're talking about Amway? They make a wonderful product. I had an account with them for quite a long time. I love their supplements, their makeup and many other products.

I've not had my account for about 2 years now. I still order (from the person who was my upline). He's a doll and gives me a distributor discount.

My own folks still share stories of the dinner biz op presentations. Unfortunately for them, it ended a great friendship as my folks kept turning down the dinner invitations.

Yes, you guessed right!!! Although I do think over the years they've moved away from those tactics.

That's too bad your folks lost a friendship over it.

I think this is very disrespectful. We are all trying to develop a business and I view this as a violation of my time. There are so many more effective methods for generating prospects that there is no excuse for this.
