Is this Crazy Or What?

My girlfriend started with a new business and was so excited she got her first party booked.

She went to the party and came home with $800 in sales. NOT bad at all for your 1st party ever. She was so happy and excited. Put the order in and the next morning the hostess called and said everyone wanted to cancel their orders.

So she was like why? What happened? Did I do somthing wrong? And the woman told her no....THEY LIKE TO HAVE A GIRLS NITE OUT A FEW FEW TIMES AND MONTH AND FIGURED THEY WOULD DO A PARTY FOR SOME ENTERTAINMENT!

So, bascally they ordered because they felt like they needed too. HOW crummy is that????

Well my friend had already ordered everyones stuff!

I told her that I would have told the hostess that who ever wanted to cancel their order would have to call me directly. You know most of the comapny receipts say you have like 3 days to cancel or what not...

I would have done iti n hopes they would feel like idiots and not call to cancel. I mean really what if I went to a party and ordered some stuff and then my hubby decided i did not want it and he called to cancel my order. I would be ticked off if the rep canceled my order just because someone told her I did not want it...You know what I mean?

But she did not, she said ok and ate the costs of $800 worth of products!

What would you have done?

Wow, I can't believe they would do that to her and I cant believe the hostess has the nerve to call her and tell her to cancel ALL the orders. I can understand maybe one or two people changing their minds, but that is crazy. Sorry to hear that

Wait a minute here. Didn't your friend have to get payment from these people at the party? That hostess and her bunch of friends are really ignorant for doing that. Was this someone your friend knew or just someone that answered an ad or something? That really blows my mind that someone would do that.

Tell your friend to have an open house and have a cash and carry sale. Maybe she could offer 10-15% off each item as a open house special or something. Is it even items she can resell or are they items personalized to the person like specific skincare or something?

Tell her not to let it get her down. Some people are just idiots and do not know how to treat other people correctly. Tell her to try to book with some close friends or family members at first if she can. That way she will feel more comfortable and learn the ropes among those that care about her. Tell her not to give up because of that stupid woman and her friends. The best revenge is to make a go of her business!!!

That is so wrong!!!!I would not be doing business with that group of women again!What type of party plan business is she in?I bet she was really upset.Why did they feel that they had to order?I would not be doing business with them again thats for sure.

I would have told the hostess that in order to cancel orders, they needed to contact me directly. Becuase then they would have probally been to embarrased to call. The hostess gave her such heck about it, she went ahead and canceled it. So she ended up stuck with all those products.

It really put a bad taste in her mouth about the entire business, you know. She spent alot of time on it and then they did that.

I would have said" I'm sorry your orders have already been processed, if you would like a refund of the product, you may choose another Item of equal value or ship the item to me & the Company will refund your order in 2-3 weeks time!! That usually gets the customers thinking & most of the time they keep the products & don't cancel the orders. What a shame that had to happen-Bless this Lady's heart, she had to have really felt bad after a let down like that. What was the Hostess thinking??? Off of an $800 Party- a Hostess would have recieved $160 Hostess Free & 8 Half-Price buys from that party, not to mention any booking gifts from Home & Garden Party-

WOW ! That is horrible ! I feel bad for her.
My receipts for ALL of my Biz, say you can have 3 days to cancel the order - that gives me usually enough time for the checks to clear too before I place the order
I agree, would have told the host sorry - orders have been processed - it's out of my hands now - perhaps your guests they can find a friend and sell to them the items or use for gifts for holidays
Had the Host gotten hateful with me, I probably would have been bad and gotten hateful back after awhile- I can only keep my mouth shut so long LOL

I hope this does not keep your freind from holding other parties - can her manager help, maybe see if anyone on the team wants any of the items? Or maybe the Biz has a forum where she can sell to other Reps - perhaps they want some cash and carry?

That is really sad and I can certainly understand her getting discouraged after something like that happening to her.

I like you would have told her that I cannot cancel an order without written confirmation and a phone call from each of the guests that wanted to cancel their orders.

Horrible - I hope once she gets a little distance from this experience that she will keep going. People that fight through the pitfalls in their business early on usually are able to look back and laugh - even at the mean-spirited customers we all come across from time to time.

Personally, I think I likely would have blown my top when the hostess gave that kind of a reason - ugh - just thinking about it gets my blood boiling. That's just not right!

I do hope she will hang in there - the best is yet to come for her!!

That is crazy...why on earth would somebody have a party and then cancel the orders, it just wastes everyone's time. What kind of entertainment is that??? At the most they should've not ordered anything and just browsed the catalogs.

I find it hard to believe all those woman would do that, I bet it was just the hostesses idea to cancel for everyone for one reason or another.
