Don't be afraid to give a catalog to someone even if you aren't sure they want your product. I did that a few weeks ago and she place an individual $250 order!

1. What has been the best life lesson that you have learned in the past year?
Life happens with or without you, the most important thing to remember is to make YOUR life happen. Make the most of everyday and always be prepared to give yourself the opportunity to stop, look, and listen. Give yourself extra time between each task to have the ability to enjoy the wonders of life. Live through your children's eyes, it is an amazing and wonderous world. I leave my house 20 minutes earlier just in case my children notice something and want to talk about it. I used to cram everything I could in an hour and was never really prepared or had time for those moments. Needless to say I felt rushed and frazzled. After making it a point to make room for those moments, and slowing down, I will never do it any other way.

2. What has been the best tip you have learned AND utilizied for your home business this past year? Network, network, network!!!! There are sooo many amazing individuals out there from which to learn. I LOVE to learn and can't stand spending my time re-inventing the wheel. Be a great listener and take in all of the information you can. Make notes each night about something you learned, want to learn more about, and how to implement them into your business plans. Make a point to learn at least one new thing everyday, no matter if it's business or personal, it is wisdom.

I thought about this and as a writer, life and business go hand and hand for me, so my answer to both questions is that I'm learning to stop stressing and obsessing about what the "competition" is doing, and just focus on improving myself, my writing, and my small business.

I bought web design software this year to (hopefully) improve my website, but also to grow creatively, to stretch. To keep expanding and challenging myself to do better and be better.

No matter what the "competition" does--or does better than I do--they can never take away from me the drive to improve.
