I have only attended 1 of these -Someone gets a chat room, then gets other Reps to take a certain time slot to be the person/Biz incharge LOL -- Some charge the Reps money for the time slot - this helps to cover the chat room cost and I guess for the Rep in charges advertising time and effort- All of the reps are listed with thier times on the announcements that are sent out - when it is your time you talk about your Biz, sales specials, start up costs, answer questions from others - it was fun but nothing came of it, even though it was a benefit
Myself and some other reps did ask questions when it was the time of others in order to help get things rolling
If I hear of any going on I will tell you - so you can check it out - I do go to some and sit back ad watch to help me learn and sometimes I buy cause there is GREAT specials LOL

I would say there are 2 different types of "online" parties. The first is what I think was being referred to before which is a "vendor" party. These you usually have to pay somewhere from $2-$10 to be a part of. You get a set time frame that you can showcase your company. The advantage to this is that all the promoting is not up to you. The place hosting the event is promoting it as is all the other consultants participating.

The other type would be a party that you or someone you know is hosting. You can set it up at any number of places that offer free online party rooms (they usually have a calendar and list your party on it for free). Then you promote promote promote your party to get as many people there as possible. Usually you play some sort of game (something that gets them digging around your site). Prizes are up to you (remember you have shipping on those prizes unlike at home parties). So things like a $ amount discount or you pay tax or something I think generally work better.

I would say attend a couple parties and vendor events and get a feel for how they work. And then give it a shot. You don't have much to lose (some time sitting in a chat room in you pj's at home!)

Good luck!
