Books
My daughter and I both love to read. We buy books at either garage sales or the used book store. This is one area I just refuse to pay full price. When we are done with the books, we sell them back to the used book store. Often at garage sales, we can pick up books for 25 cents each. As long as the book is in good condition, we can then read it and sell it at the used book store, which gives us credit towards more books.

Re: Books
Wow, that is a great idea. After spending loads of money on books for my kids I started heading to our local library and getting books there for myself and the kids. Our library even sells their paperbacks from .25-.50 so I really save there.

Re: Books
Garage sales are the best place to buy books (other than from your favorite Usborne Consultant of course!). Gotta love those hardbacks that sell for $18 - $25 new selling for a dollar or those paperbacks for a quarter that sell for $8 new!

Re: Books
Our Library has a used book store, people donate books and then the book store sells them. It's kind of nice, they are probably a little more than a garage sale, usually $.50-$2 for paperbacks and $3-$5 for hardcovers, but sometimes they have sales like bogo free or 50% off.
Plus they are all organzied so it's easy to shop and you know the money goes back into the library.

Re: Books
We live in a small town and our local post office but up shelves in the lobby and people leave thier books they are done with there. We have like a book exchange lol. Its a great way to get books to read and to give books you are done reading. Lots of new releases get left which is great. just wanted to share.

Re: Books
Tonja,
That is neat. My mom has been going to the same beauty shop for a ton of years. The beauty shop has shelves set up and they too do a book exchange. My mom is always bringing home a new book to read from there. She also brings our already read books and adds them to the shelf.

Re: Books
There was a kid in the area who got lost in the mountains and died. I guess he loved books because for his "birthday" party, after he died, the mom had everyone bring a book. Then she stamped something in the front and distributed them. Her request was that for each book handed to you w/ the stuff in the front that you e-mail her. Neat, huh?
