1 qt. tomatoes or juice(I use tomatoes)
1/3 cu. celery, chopped fine
1/4 cu. onion, chopped fine
1/4 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp of cornstarch
1 can of evaporated milk
1 qt of whole or 2% milk
4 Tbsp of butter
Cook tomatoes, celery, onions for 15 minutes, then add baking soda, stir well. Remove from heat & cool. Be sure to cool tomato mixture or when you add milk it will curdle. Mix cornstarch in a little milk until dissolved. Then add to tomatoe mixture. Add evaporated milk, 2% milk, & butter, salt & pepper to taste. Heat & stir constantly until hot. Do not boil. This soup can curdle.
