7 Layer Salad
Place each of the following ingredients in a single layer until each ingredient completely covers the one before it. In order.
1/2 large head lettuce, shredded
3 large or 5 medium tomatoes, cut in small pieces
1 1/2 to 2 cups mayo
6 hard boiled eggs, chopped
3/4 lb. English peas, fresh or frozen*
8 oz. medium cheddar cheese, grated
1 bottle bacon bits, spread on top
* run hot water over peas to break loose and drain in colander before adding to recipe.
Place in 10 inch diameter pan or 2 1/2 quart pan. Let chill in refrigerator for 1 hour. This sets the ingredients and helps them to hold better when dishing it up for serving.
