Default From Indiana to Phoenix...maybe

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. My name is Michelle & I stay home w/my (almost) 3 yr old daughter. I currently live in Indiana, but my husband and I are thinking about relocating to Phoenix next spring. We've lived in a few different places, but prefer warm weather (I know it will be HOT there in the summer!) We're going there in a few months to scout it out & if we like what we see, that will be our next home. Any advice from people that live in the Phoenix area on the best or worst places to live, must-see places while we vacation there, best schools, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Our daughter now goes to a Montessori school & we'd like to keep her in that type of preschool program. From what we've researched so far, we are wanting to check out Scottsdale, Glendale & Gilbert. Thanks for your help & have a great day!

Hi Michelle!

We lived in Chandler for 5 years and now live in the Southeast part of AZ outside of Douglas on 5 acres. We are currently searching for 40 acres to buy and build a new house somewhere between here and Willcox so it gives us about 75 miles to work with.

I would stay away from Glendale. While I am not too familiar with it, Glendale was ALWAYS on the news for bad things happening. I also know quite a few people who moved out of different parts of Glendale.

Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler and Queen Creek are all very nice. In Scottsdale expect to pay about $500 to $700,000 for about 2,000 sq ft and the other areas about $200-$400,000. The futher you move out (like Queen Creek) the cheaper it is but is also further away if you do work outside the home.

In Chandler there is the Kyrene School District which is considered very good but other than that I am not familiar with the other areas. If you want the heat you might also want to consider the Tucson area - it's growing fast, is a little cooler and very nice.

We've in AZ for almost 7 years (moved from WI) and love it!!

We have met several people that left Phoenix but I have never been there. These people have relocated to Las Vegas. I do know it is hotter than Vegas many times. I have always heard good things about Tucson. I know that the Kingman area is sell property like crazy but, there is very little work there. Kingman is near the Nevada boarder.
Have a super day,
