Just the boost I needed *Update in OP*
I got an e-mail from a local lady who's established in her oh-so-cute business saying that she liked mine! Anyway, she said when I'm ready, she'll forward my name on to the people at the biggest local news channel. They have a segment for local businesses. She also got me to think about putting my stuff in some stores, and I'm so going to! I've already taken the first step and feeling VERY optimistic. Thanks for letting me share!
**Update** Ok, so the deal with this group is you pay $20 (I hope it's a 1 time fee, but it might be for every time), plus you have to hand out 100 flyers, and you bring treats for your customers. The place where all this is is in a really really rich area, about 30-45 from my home. So I went up Tuesday and got the flyers. I started delivering them in my assinged area by myself. After an hour and a half and only 30 flyers later, my back was hurting it was hot and I felt a little funny. I figured that I'd go home, make some phone calls, then deliver the rest in the morning. So I went home- and was running a fever that got worse as the day went on. I had a fever ALL day! It was horrible. Luckily, when I woke up on Wed, it was gone and I was good to go. So I recruited my nephews to deliver flyers with me. It didn't take nearly as long that way. I drove the car, they delivered, I bought them lunch. Win-win. Ok, fast forward to today.... I get there, nervous the entire drive up- butterflies, everything- set up, all that jazz. There were 9 of us at the boutique- all of us had delivered flyers, most of them lived close. I'd used an entire tank of gas on all my trips up there. The thing was from 1-6. I think a TOTAL of 15 people came. Granted their school started yesterday. We were all dissapointed. It was pretty tough for me. I did learn a LOT about myself. It would be so easy right now to say, "OK, I'm done for good. Forget it, none of this is working," but I'm going to see if there isn't a boutique group in my county. Because there are rich people on the East Bench of Salt Lake, I don't have to go all the way down to Highland and Alpine to find them. Thanks so much for your guys' support. On my way home, I was like- I've got to go tell the other moms! So I thought of you guys!

Re: Just the boost I needed
Well, I met with her and got some really good ideas. Unfortunately, it's going to take a little more time (and a wee bit more money than I have) to really pick up the pace. BUT I am working on it. It's one of the things that if I could just get ONE sale, I'd feel so much better about everything!

Re: Just the boost I needed
do you have a website? the link under your name shows a page not found.
could you sell your things into already established stores? is that what you are thinking? you wouldn't need much money to do that i would think.

Re: Just the boost I needed
My website is currently under construction. I want to be in stores. We're a one car family, though and DH doesn't get home until 6 on weeknights. I need to have someone watch the kids so I can take him to work and take all my products around to the stores that I think would carry it. I had a list made and everything. I am going to sell on eBay, although I need to take some more pictures before it looks good.
That's the plan for tonight. Thanks for the encouragement, everyone.

I'm so happy for you Robin- anyway you look at it, this gave your business a boost & you learnt from this experience. Sometimes that what it takes, is just getting your business out there & letting people know more about your business. God Bless-

Re: Just the boost I needed
Robyn, another idea for you is to hold your own. Do you know a few ladies who sell Tupperware, Avon, and Discovery Toys for instance? Get together with them and plan a Fall/Holiday open house.
I do one every fall with my friend that sells Pampered Chef. We hold this at her church. Usually have about 14 companies there. Charge $25 per person, which includes advertising. Then the remaining money goes to the church.
But good for you for keeping your chin up!
