Today I approached someone I was afraid to approach
Today I signed up a highly successful person into my business. I had been afraid of approaching this person before because I wasn't sure what they would think. I am glad I asked them now. So don't pre-judge people. Talk to everyone about your business - you will be surprised what happens.

That's awesome! And sometimes, that's really all you need to do ... get that one "unlikly" person and your confidence will soar
Keep up the great work ... and who's next on that list?
Take care,
Anita

Way to go, Lin! It's hard going out of your comfort zone, but in direct sales it is key to your business!

Re: Today I approached someone I was afraid to approach
I wish I had more courage to do that. I have been watching the same Moms all year at my son's preschool and only spoke to 2 of the Moms about my business. I just don't want to be one of those people who approaches everyone in sight and annoys them.

Re: Today I approached someone I was afraid to approach
Congrats on breaking free Lin !
That is a big step to take, but once you have taken the first one the rest will seem so much easier- you are now walking a steady pace, soon you will be up and running!
Lori so true - I know what type of folks you are refering to, When I am working Craft shows, fairs ect - it is unreal how many Reps from other Biz, try to recruit me, try to get me to have aparty, keep talking about how great thier Biz is - I am glad they are into what they are doing, but.... And I see them chase away customers when someone is looking in my booth I do not start in on them to have a party or to sign up - that can wait till after the sale!

Re: Today I approached someone I was afraid to approach
Lori,
Why not just say hi to these moms and forget business? As women, we also have another option. Wear clothing and/or jewelry that advertise for you. It's funny...over the years when I make this suggestion, men always chuckle, saying it's not a good idea. Women however love the idea and report that it does work.
For example, over the years, I've had baseball caps that advertise my business, I've had diaper bags that advertise my business, I've had sweatshirts that advertise my business etc. I sell scrapbook materials so a sweatshirt that says "scrappin mom" is all I need. It's a conversation starter. Do you sell makeup? Find earrings that are a lipstick. Do you sell candles? Find a baseball cap that says "smokin mom", or have one made. Do you sell kitchen supplies? Put the words "cookin mom" on your diaper bag.
My appoach to business is to form friendships and see what happens. For example, if you and I start to talk, maybe you really dislike scrapbooking, but if you like me, you very well might recommend me to your sister who loves to scrapbook.
Set a goal of saying hi to one new mom each week. See what happens!!
Hope that helps a bit.

Re: Today I approached someone I was afraid to approach
Congratulations! Sometimes I think like that also, but you can be surprised when you actually go up to them. Some people are also just intimidating but then if you get to know them, you think its silly that you ever thought that in the first place!

Re: Today I approached someone I was afraid to approach
Congratulations!!!
I am so shy that I have a hard time approaching people about my business too and I don't even really sell anything. I've been carrying around pens and passing them out to Moms, but still I am sometimes apprehensive about going up to somebody.
