What you Need:
egg carton
pipe cleaner
crepe paper or tissue paper
Cut a 4-cup section off of the end of an egg
carton. Colored
plastic ones are great, but plain cardboard ones also work well. Poke two
holes in the center of the cup sections and thread a pipe cleaner through
the two holes and twist the ends together underneath to create a handle.
Add a fringed strip of crepe paper or tissue paper around the edges or
other decorations.

Have children collect pebbles size stones to
decorate their cross.
make salt dough:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup water
Mix ingredients together and add water or flour to it until it has bread dough
consistensy. Not dry, Not sticky.
Salt dough can be made ahead and wrapped in plastic in the refridgerator.
Just pat with a little water to it if it seems dry and crumbly.
Shape a cross out of salt dough.
Take white glue and have children press pebbles onto cross after dipping them in the glue.
We also added small metal or wood crosses to the center of the cross.
Take a wire bread tie and twist into a loop. Dip ends in glue and insert into the top of
the cross for hanging.
Bake finished cross in oven at 275 degrees until dry. Probably about 1-2 hours depending
on how thick you make a cross. Varnish to make it last a lifetime.
